Rhapsodate helps people find classical music partners: people to play with, and company for concerts. These terms are the agreement between you and Rhapsodate when you use our app or this website. By joining, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your information.
1. Who can join
Anyone can read Rhapsodate’s listings and guides. To make an account, you must be 18 or older, able to make this agreement, and not barred from using a service like this by law or by a court. People convicted of a violent or sexual offense may not have an account. One account per person.
2. Your account
Tell the truth about yourself: your age, your photo (recent, and of you), and, if you play, your level, the pieces you’ve played and your musical background. Keep access to your email account safe, since that is how you sign in. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
3. How to treat people
Be kind and honest. Don’t harass, threaten, demean or pressure anyone; don’t send sexual content to someone who hasn’t asked for it; don’t share anyone’s private information or messages without their permission.
Rhapsodate is for meeting people, not selling to them: no advertising, recruiting, solicitation, requests for money, or promotion. Musicians may mention their own concerts, and teachers may show what they teach with the teacher’s badge.
Hellos are for finding people to play with or go to concerts with. Write to each person as a person: no copy-pasted notes sent to many people. Take no for an answer: if someone doesn’t reply, says no, or blocks you, don’t contact them again, here or anywhere else.
Members may say that they would pay to play with someone, or that they charge for playing or teaching (for example accompanying, coaching or lessons). Any fee is agreed directly between the members involved. Rhapsodate does not take part in those arrangements, take payments, check rates or qualifications beyond what the app describes, or guarantee that anyone is paid. Don’t ask for payment in advance from someone you haven’t met.
Add the teacher’s badge only if you really teach, and describe your teaching honestly: the instruments and levels you teach, in person or online. Anyone can report a badge that seems false, and we may remove it. Lessons, fees and cancellations are agreed between teacher and student.
Tick “played with” or “performed with” only for people you really played or performed with. Don’t trade ticks or ask for them. We may remove ticks from accounts that misuse them.
No fake profiles, impersonation, scams, spam or automated use. Don’t try to get around blocks, privacy settings or our security.
Report anything that worries you. We review reports, and may warn, limit or remove anyone who breaks these terms, and contact the police when someone may be in danger.
4. Meeting in person
We don’t run background checks. A verified badge only means we checked someone’s musical background, and the teacher’s badge is what members say about themselves. Meet someone new in a public place, such as a practice room, a school or the concert itself, not at a stranger’s home. Tell a friend your plans, and leave if you feel unsafe. Our safety notes at rhapsodate.com/safety have more. You are responsible for your own interactions with other members.
5. Concerts, tickets and practice rooms
Concert listings come from presenters’ own sites, partners and members, and plans change. Check the presenter’s page before you go. Tickets are sold by the presenter on their own site, under their terms and refund rules; Rhapsodate does not sell tickets or practice-room bookings. Member discounts are offered by the presenter and may end.
6. What you post
You own your photos, words and recordings. You allow Rhapsodate to store and show them to other members as the app describes, only to run the service, until you delete them or your account. Only post what you have the right to share.
Requests are for finding people to play with or go to concerts with. No advertising, spam or unrelated offers, and no contact details in the request itself (replies come to you on Rhapsodate). We may remove requests or conversations that break these terms.
7. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts people at risk. Parts of these terms that by their nature should continue (such as limits on liability) do.
8. No guarantees
We work hard to keep Rhapsodate running and safe, but we provide it as it is. We can’t promise that you’ll find people to play with, that listings are always right, or that the service is never interrupted. To the extent the law allows, Rhapsodate is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for how other members behave, and our total liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the past 12 months and $100. Nothing here limits rights you have that the law doesn’t allow us to limit.
9. Changes, law and contact
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell members before the change takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Questions: support@rhapsodate.com.
